AREA

Charente

Known as the second sunniest region outside the Mediterranean, this little pocket of rural france has so much to offer. In general, the terrain is very rural and the summer landscape sees farmland covered with a blaze of yellow sunflowers. Where we are inland, its gentle undulating hills offer a perfect escape for walkers and cyclists alike. To the south you will be amongst rows of vineyards which provide grapes used in Cognac as well as the regions local apéritif 'Pineau des Charentes'. To the north you will discover the ancient city of Poitiers and the more recent futuristic 'Futuroscope' theme park which is one of the twenty most visited places in France.

The West covers the Atlantic coast area where you can visit the towns of La Rochelle, Royan and Rochefort. Along this coastline the speciality is Oysters. The two coastal islands of Île d'Oléron and île de Ré are famous for their beautiful beaches and salt marshes.

La Combe

Set in a quiet location, we are situated at the top of a hill in the small hamlet of Moutardon. It is surrounded by rural farmland, It's not unusual to see the land worked in the traditional way by horse and plough. July through much of August sees the countryside come to life with thousands of sunflowers swaying in the light summer's evening breeze.

La Chanson du Ciel

Our traditional charentaise farmhouse is our rustic, comfy home where we welcome guests for B&B. The garden that wraps itself around the house is very tranquil and mostly left to nature with numerous fruit trees such as plum, apple, cherry, fig and walnut.

The view in 'Shirval' corner entices you to sit with a glass of wine taking in the wonderful sights and sounds of nature and beautiful bird song. You may even be lucky enough to witness the stunning song of the nightingale.

As dusk falls, tiny bat's duck and dive around the garden's diminishing light. On a clear night the stars are defined and seemingly sparkle endlessly in the vast universe above. Simply magical...
